Bio

Mexicano / Determined / Thoughtful / Welcoming / Alternative

My training journey began in 2006, when I was inspired by traditional martial artists and professional fighters to engage in both the artistic and competitive sides of combat sports. I have studied Kung-Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and Muay Thai, and I have competed at all levels of Muay Thai/Kickboxing. I have coached in many gyms since 2012, and I am excited to share my knowledge with the Equilibrium community. My style of Muay Thai incorporates a blend of Dutch Kickboxing and Mexican Boxing, with an emphasis on heart, fundamentals, and realistic application. I aim to build an inclusive practice welcoming all levels and identities, and I enjoy working with everyone from novice students to professional fighters. I am an approachable instructor who takes the art seriously, while making the content engaging and accessible. Expect to learn fight-applicable techniques while working towards your fitness goals. Outside of teaching Muay Thai, my professional career has focused on advancing equity, anti-racism, and basic needs (food and housing security) in the education and nonprofit sectors. For fun, I enjoy punk music and culture, video games, and spending time with my wife (who co-instructs with me). I look forward to seeing you in class. Mantra: “From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.”
